I feel that some developers here are getting a little defensive because a huge
amount of work would be necessary to implement all of this, and they don't want
to do it. I'd say that they need to separate the concepts of what they are
willing to do, and what ought to be done.
It is clear that the annotation feature in Okular is broken. It does not do
what any user would expect it to do. This obviously needs to be fixed. The
huge amount of work involved in finding an alternative to poppler (for
example), does not change that fact.
KDE 4 development is very innovative, but sometimes forgets that (at a given
point in time) it is better not to offer functionality than to offer it and
disappoint.
