To put £18k as a starting salary for a graduate into perspective, it's at the very bottom end according to HESCU ( http://www.graduates.co.uk/graduate-starting-salaries-in-2013-14/). A typical technical internship in the US - so someone who hasn't even finished university yet - pays at least twice that. It's really only a few thousand above the minimum wage at £13k.
If it's correct, then I'm shocked. I have theology and classics student friends I graduated with who earned 4x compared to that on their first job five years ago. What happened to STEM and tech being the way to go for graduates?
