Thank you for the revised patch. As you may have noticed, the other contributors aren't very enthusiastic about the new option, and took the time to voice their opinion. This usually means I'm doing something wrong... After reflecting for a couple days, I think they are right - my eagerness to reduce the number of beeps in the world overcame my better judgment. I don't think there is enough of a good reason to justify the creation of an option, especially one for this fine level of control. Sorry to change my mind after you went through the work.
