Which make the xawtv windows small, very small, there can be bandwith
problems with the buz. Have you taken a look at the messages when you
have loaded the drivers wihtou loading the bttv drivers before ?
Did you see anything obvious ?

Even if you don't see anything in xawtv try recording a video once
(maybe without sound) to see if recording work.
