Hello all,

Thanks to so many who offered help with my DC10+ problem. After
wrestling with SuSE for many hours I decided to move back to a Mandrake
9.1 setup. The zoran driver compiled just fine and seems to work OK when
used with xawtv.

Unfortunately the story doesn't end there. Whenever I try to capture
video using lavrec, I can record anywhere from 1-7 minutes of video, but
then the entire computer freezes up. (i.e. the caps lock & scroll lock
light blink on the keyboard...the computer will not take any keyboard or
mouse input.) The only way to recover is to reset the machine.

I don't know enough about troubleshooting to know where to look for
useful info for debugging, so I'll give you everything that I can think
of to help out...let me know if I can do more.

System: Athlon XP 2700+ on Abit NF-7S MB (nVidia2 chipset). 1GB DDR333
RAM. Mandrake 9.1 (2.4.21-0.13mdk kernel).

I run the following command to invoke lavrec:

lavrec -f a -i n -d 2 -q 75 -a 16 -r 48000 -R l -U -t 6240 -w
test%02d.avi

The only other thing running on the system is xawtv (so I can see where
to cue the tape I am trying to capture...). I know the system has frozen
because of the blinking keyboard lights and the video on xawtv freezes
as well. This seems to happen anywhere from 1 to 7 minutes into capture
(varies each time I try it.) I don't know where to look for any useful
debugging info, so if you need more, please let me know and I'll get it
out for you.

Thanks in advance,

Kurt
