Hi,

This is a bit off topic, but I figure somebody here is probably doing
it and might have some advice for me.

I've got a Creative SBLive soundcard. I've got the newest ALSA stuff set
up for it. I've got the OSS emulation stuff set up.

I'm running Redhat 9 and I sometimes use Gnome when I bother to get into
X.

I run amixer to load the sound modules when I start up.

To record audio successfully, I then seem to have to get into X and run
the gnome-volume-control to adjust some stuff like "igain" before I can
get lavrec to record anything. The lavrec -l flag seems to just work on
the Line gain and not this 'igain'.

Problem is, I can't figure out how to do this automatically on boot, so I
have no recovery in case of power failure.

Any recommendations? Should I disable the OSS emulation to handle
everything from alsamixer? Should I do something creative with asound?

Thanks for the read,

Jean
