Hi.

I've been spending my week trying to capture with my
Matrox G400-TV card and hopefully take advantage of
the hardware MJPEG encoder. Thus far I have
successfully installed the mgavideo drivers and
mjpegtools. XawTV works super for playback, but nasty
for recording thereby creating a need to use
mjpegtools. Using lavrec like so:

lavrec -f a -i n -d 1 -q 80 -R l -U /video/capture.avi

I get good results with very few dropped frames -
eleven drops total for the hour of video from a
ten-year-old VHS tape. I'm excited about this so far.

But the thing is that I like a gui - especially for
video - so I'm anxious to use LVS. After installing
the rpm (v. 0.1.7-1) and running studio one of two
things happens:

1. LVS starts up but shows split and garbled video
from the VCR, no matter how I change the options to
use NTSC, etc.

and/or

2. The video displays properly but when I try to
initialize a capture I get an error window telling me:

Lavrec failed with the following error: [lavrec]
Error opening video-device (/dev/video): Device or
resource busy

Then I notice that if I try going back to the command
line lavrec, I get these errors:
++ WARN: [lavrec] Unable to set negative priority for
main thread
++ WARN: [lavrec] Pthread Real-time scheduling for
main thread could not be enabled
++ WARN: [lavrec] Unable to set negative priority for
audio thread.
++ WARN: [lavrec] Pthread Real-time scheduling for
audio thread could not be enabled.
**ERROR: [lavrec] Error opening output file
/video/x.avi:

Oy. Now I'm in trouble. But I find if I uninstall both
rpms for mjpegtools and lvs, and reinstall only
mjpegtools then lavrec works for me once again and I'm
back to where I began. I'm not really sure what to do
at this point.

Any thoughts?
