Hi Julia,

I understand what you are saying regarding the user dictionary. It usually
takes the same amount of time for a user to become visible in other areas.
However, the user never showed up in the Copy Access Dictionaries or the
Nurse Dictionary in NUR when I was trying to set up the user. Our Patient
Accounting manager filed the Medical Necessity Requirements dictionary twice
that day.once that morning and once during the afternoon. It was the middle
of the afternoon before I set up a new user. I also never saw the new user
in the other routines mentioned before I left work last Friday. When I came
back on Monday, the user was available in those routines.

I should also mention that the caretaker messages I mentioned continued
until about 8:30 Friday night. That is probably when the user was available
in the other routines.

Our Patient Accounting manager figured if it had not caused any system
response delays when she accidentally filed the day before, then she was
safe to make edits to the dictionary!

Please let me know if you have any other thoughts on this, and as always,
thanks!

Jay

Hi, Jay,

When I updated the Medical Necessity requirements dictionary at Colquitt, I
did it during my regular work day. Yes, the filing took a while, but we
never encountered any of the issues that you mention.

Unrelated to the Medical Necessity dictionary, though, we (Colquitt) did
notice slowness in MIS to populate and I have experienced that in other
sites, too, especially when creating a new user or editing an existing one.
It can sometimes take 1-3 minutes for a menu change or new user to become
visible in other areas.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Medical Necessity Requirements Dictionary

I am curious if anyone else has problems when during and after the filing of
the MIS Medical Necessity Requirements dictionary.

Our Patient Accounting manager is the one in charge of this dictionary. She
usually updates this dictionary in the middle of the night from home,
because it appears to have such an impact on system functionality. There
used to be a major decrease in response time throughout the system when this
dictionary was filed. This does not appear to be an issue anymore, as the
Patient Accounting manager accidentally filed this dictionary one day last
week.

However, it seems that the other MIS dictionaries when the Medical Necessity
Requirements dictionary is filed. I was setting up a user, and then went to
Copy Access Dictionaries, and the new user I set up was not available in the
lookup. I also went to the Nurse Dictionary in NUR to initialize this user
there, and the user was not available in that lookup either. The Patient
Accounting manager also noticed that she had entered a new insurance into
the MIS Insurance dictionary, but was unable to see it in the lookup in one
of her BAR dictionaries.

Not only did these things happen, but the filing of the Medical Necessity
Requirements dictionary generated errors on the caretaker:

BACKGROUND JOB A * IST NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY

There were also messages for Job B and D as well. MEDITECH said that
everything was fine. "The CPT dictionary is being updated causing the IST's
to
run a bit slower but they are moving. Once this completed the IST's will go
back to idling."

Does anyone else have problems with this besides us? Has anyone found a
solution to this problem, or does anyone know of a DTS that could possibly
correct this issue? Any responses are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
