I agree, but the only immediate alternative to Maduro is a pro-imperialist government to its right. On the other hand, there is a strong argument to be made that governments popularly identified with the left should resign and campaign against - rather than impose - austerity as, for example, should have happened in Greece in 2015 after the August referendum, and is an option facing the governments in Venezuela and even Cuba today.
