The last two times an IP address which we are responsible for was explicitly
listed by Spamhaus, Spamhaus said that this was due to a misconfiguration in
their side. So we could have searched our logs forever without finding a
malicious message. The operators of the DNSBL which we don't mention are not
exactly known for admitting mistakes, so chances are that you will never find
out the reason for the listing.

There are other DNSBL operators who do not provide any information at all why a
listing occurred (looking at you, Cisco). If the recipient is interested in
receiving your messages, they should exclude you from whatever blocking
mechanism they have put into place. At least that's what we do.
When asking what Gmail as a sender would do in such a situation, the answer
goes into the same direction: Wait for the receiving side to solve the problem.
You or the recipient can inform the server operator that they are blocking
legitimate messages and creating false positives, which is clearly not in
anyones interest. If they don't care I don't know what else to do, you cannot
force them to accept a message.
