No, I can't, and that's exactly what those mail clients are doing - they
display a "friendly name" which can be anything.

The mail client should display the "From:" header exactly as it is in the
message. If it is 'From: "b...@microsoft.com" <b...@micorsoft.com>', then it
should display it as such, not restrict itself only to "friendly" part or to
actual email part.
