This is worth emphasizing.  Some others have also pointed this out, but it still is often missed:

If a an identifier is authenticated with a stream of messages, then that stream of messages can be assumed to have no 'outside' sources.  This let's you evaluate the stream as if there is no 'noise' to the stream.

What it does not tell you is whether the actor associated with the identifier is good or bad.
