In Germany for example it's against the law to suppress emails in the
same way postal services are not allowed to suppress regular letters.

If you accept an email it's your responsibility to deliver it to the
recipient. There have already been court decisions, sadly not against
bigger players yet - besides the international issues.

Even sorting it into a "might be spam" folder is a grey area because
users that collect mails using pop3 might not be able to see them.

If a company loses a big contract or similar because you suppressed an
email instead of rejecting it, it can get pretty expensive. If you
reject the email, it's still the senders responsibility to contact the
recipient in a different way.

But then a lot of mail admins over here don't know these laws or don't
care. :-(
