I have to disagree with you there. So far, the only thing I can't do
with Pages is use the change tracking facility. I can find what the
changes are but not where they are within a given page.
And what's about notes and headings? If I am reading a document using
the Say All command, how can I know if a given paragraph contains a note
or is an heading? And, if I know a note is present, is there a method to
have its content read out without leaving the actual position in the
document body? I am not talking about interacting and de-interacting,
I'm talking about something easy to use and quick, something I can use
in a productive environment.
As for handling tables, there is a command to turn them into text so
that they can be read. You can also work on them by copying them into
Numbers, then copying them back into Pages once you're done.
Have a table translated into text is not working with tables, is working
with text. Apple produces Voice Over. Apple produces Pages. Apple's
philosophy about accessibility is that are the developper themselves
that have to make theyr application accessible. So, the Apple's
Applications do have to be accessible to set a standard, and an high
one. Copy, paste, work, copy and re-paste a table is not a solution, it
is a work around. But we are in 2012, aren't we? JAWS for Windows,
Windows Eyes, and NVDA also do have a good support for table editing in
word processing programs like Openoffice (NVDA) or Microsoft Office.
Apple says MacOSX Lion is the most advanced Operating system on the
market and Voice Over is part of that system. So why, after 2 or 3 years
of mails sent to accessibil...@apple.com, after dozens of bugs submitted
during the beta testing, are we here discussing about a feature present
in other Screen reading software since 7 or 8 years?
Merry Christmas!
