I have read online that the general slowness has to do with spotlight indexing your files. IF you do a command space and then down arrow it will tell you how much time is left to index your files. I'm just gonna leave my macbook running until all the indexing is complete. Hopefully that will speed it up tremendously. I'm sure it will, as there is a lot more disk activity going on right now.
