well, I am not sure about the accessible scanner software. however, you can do most of your word processing on the mac. I didn't know that microsoft office was available for the mac. The one thing I can tell you is that the mac is not a respectable part of the marketplace and a lot of blind people who use computers also like the mac (those that have one anyway).
I don't use windows here as I don't have the funds to get the accessibility software. I haven't tried looking around for good OCR software yet (but I do see a need for it).
