Hello all,

I have not used the mac computer systems in about fifteen years but am
making the final decisions for my purchase of an IMac. Does anyone have
advice. I am a totally blind user. I have decided it will be most useful to
bootcamp my computer so as to have scanning capabilities. I am told there is
no accessible software on the Mac for my scanning needs? I ahve been using
kerzweil. Right now I am planning to go with Freedom Scientific's openbook
and the Freedom Scientific Pearl which is portable and uses a camera rather
than a flat bed scanner. Before I make that commitment I want to be sure
there is nothing out there for the Mac.

I am planning to use iwork but there have been some suggestions I go with
Microsoft for Mac. I currently use Jaws 11 on a windows 7 with Microsoft
office 2007.

My primary uses on the computer are: word processing, excel, e-mail and
internet searches as well as scanning outlined above. I have no technical
background.

It was suggested I get 500 gb and a separate 500 gb external drive for
backup rather than the 1 terabite.
If anyone has any advice to throw in before I make the final purchase
decisions, that would be great.

E-mail off list can be sent to:

Thank-you,
