Great, learn something new every day. Even in the modern view, one can first interact and then the cursor key navigation allows you to read by the column you’re viewing. Thanks Jonathan.
But I still prefer the classic view, with the preview pane off. I like the clean and tabular layout, VoiceOver’s support for sorting columns, the consistency of navigation with and without VoiceOver, the initial-letter jumping. That I should have to switch to the modern view only because Apple aren’t properly maintaining the classic view’s performance gets to me. And I think the slow deletion of messages from message windows that some people are experiencing is actually a bug.
