Just to address the mail problem. Yes, this was a bug in Yosemite as well, and yes, it's random. What I meant to say in my bug, and what I don't think I made clear, is that El Cap has made it worse. For instance, I used to sometimes get the sender's name and the text in a scroll area. Now, in El Cap, I nearly always get that, and am sometimes not even placed there but rather on a toolbar that has no message text at all. So yes, this bug has been around for a while, but El Cap has (on my machine) made it worse.
