Hi, Similar to Jonathan’s reply, what I’ve done is move the entire iTunes folder from your Home directory to the other location. So, cmd-c the /Users/My_Username/Music/iTunes folder and cmd-option-v it to whereever you wish to put it, such as an external HD with more space. Now, when you go to open iTunes, it will say that it can’t find the iTunes Library at which time you locate the copied iTunes folder from the dialog and click Choose. This will automatically fix everything and life will be good. The only concern, is that you must have the external source turned on when starting iTunes, otherwise, it will bring up this dialog again.
