The lag is definitely there, yes, even with 16 GB of RAM (I also have an iMac mid-2011). It is much worse in Nuance voices than in Alex, which means staying with Alex is the quickest fix. This hasn't bothered me, so I assume I've learned to tolerate it in Alex, but it's absurd with high-quality Nuance.
Anyone able to tell what upgrading Alex to enhanced quality actually does? It's a slight change, but I've not yet determined (or just can't remember) whether the impact was worth the download or the increased response time. In general my feeling of Yosemite is: yeah, nothing extraordinary, really, just evolution. Depending on your current circumstances you may in fact find it easier to stay put. Mavericks was messed up, but it provided what I imagine most people noticed about the improved response time; I can live with Mountain Lion for now, and will move once Yosemite is closer to perfection. Gone are the blind leaps of faith. :) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
