The lag seems random. I've heard of 4GB ram machines running fine, while newer ones with more ram have the lag. I've heard that Nuance voices cause the problem, and that they don't. I've been told a clean install made things worse, or a bit better... All I can say is: if you have this problem, report it to Apple along with the specifics of your machine.
