Well, it's encouraging to hear that, at least on Windows, Lyx 1.6.5 seems to be doing fine with the old Russian orthography. But since I am on Ubuntu Linux, and LyX 1.6.5 coupled with texlive is more capricious here, I guess I'll have to wait for the stable LyX2.0 release (the development version doesn't seem to play nicely on my machine). Until then, it's plain old OpenOffice Writer for me. I'll be looking forward for the official release of LyX2.0! Best regards and thanks for all your help! Andrey
