Unfortunately it is not included on several recent Linux distros (but that is beginning to change) Manual installation in a non-standard prefix (not /usr/local) was a bit difficult when I did it (~ a year ago or so), but I don't remember the details. I don't like the auto* stuff at all, but we have some auto* experts here, so any change should be planned very carefully. Georg
