The two suggestions are: 1. run "lyx -dbg action" instead of "lyx". If it crashes, the console might have spit out some information like "LyXFunc::dispatch: cmd: 8" that might be of interest. 2. ./configure --enable-stdlib-debug [+ any other options you use] However, if you didn't explicitely configured with --disable-stdlib-debug, it should already be enabled I think (don't know if Lars has switched it off for pre3). Also, LyX 1.4pre4 should be released shortly. Maybe the situation has changed there. Is this clearer? Please ask if not. Jürgen
