In principal I agree with them - it is a feature which is counterproductive to 
writing as it
interrupts the flow of ideas / writing. But I do *not* agree that it is useless 
and that nobody
should have it. I also would not like it to be turned on for me as an "old" 
user, but I would
simply switch it off.

Well - but it does not suit "new" users, who are (more and more) used to it by 
using word / libre
office / ... .

And just enabling it in newly created config files, would not change aything 
for "old" users and
fulfill the request from "new" users and geared towards users migrating from 
word et
