The whole point of LaTeX and LyX is that I can compile my 10 years old documents without wondering whether it will work. I do not see the need to kill all the past thing just for the pleasure of implementing weird citations styles (is \Fvolcite[]{}[]{} really required to write a document??). Supporting them is fine, forcing eveybody to switch to them is not.
