The first officially stable biblatex version (1.0) is not even half a year old. There are classes that have builtin natbib support or require other bibliography approaches. We will _not_ go for a biblatex-only solution. With a sane bibliography interface, this will not lead to bloat. Also note that while biblatex is very well maintained, it's still basically a one-man project. Nobody knows what happens if Philipp loses interest. This happened to other ambiguous projects in the past. It happened to jurabib and beamer. We do not want to make LyX depend on the phase of the moon. Jürgen
