You should type things like 'shorcut buffer-write', select and apply
insert-info (define a shortcut is useful here), or from the command
buffer, type insert0info menu buffer-write.

I do not have lyx trunk at hand, but if you open Help->Shortcuts, you
should be able to copy part of the shortcuts or the
InsetInfo::MenuInfo and paste out. I was not saying that I really want
to provide this select and copy stuff, but letting these text and
insets handling themselves is easy. You know, some InsetInfo can be
long and needs line wrap, InsetInfo::Menu uses that special >
symbol...
