I don't think a mix of different guidelines is what we want. In such a case, 
rather change it to the Mac HIG for the Mac people, and leave it for Linux as 
is.

I think "Compressed" should not be in the menus at all. It should be part of 
the file dialog (but this is difficult, since we use native widgets on Mac 
and Win)

I think the division as it is makes sense.
