This feature will probably be added back in 1.1.5fix1 (we have the
patch). In the meantime, you could have a look in the sources in
src/LColor.C.

The idea is to do this in reverse, via literate programming. In this
case, you would use LyX as your main editor. This is documented in
Help->Extended.

Of course, code editing in LyX is not as good in LyX than in emacs.
