Does anyone else have any ideas as to what might be causing these weird problems?

Is there anyone else out there testing 1.5.0svn with any BiDi language?

I'd like to test it but I don't know if I can install any RTL language keyboard support on my WinXP laptop :-(

Hi Abdel!

I believe that WinXP comes with all languages / keyboard definitions? This is how you would go about adding the Hebrew keyboard in WinXP (this is on a desktop, though): In Control Panel -> Regional & Language Settings, choose th Languages tab. There you have a section "Text services and input languages", choose the "Details..." button. In the section "Installed services" choose "Add...", and you should see a list from which you can choose the various languages.

Unfortunately I need the XP installation CD to install support for RTL language which I don't have...

Alternatively, I guess you don't really need keyboard input at all: just try loading the example attached to bug #3040 (http://bugzilla.lyx.org/attachment.cgi?id=1357&action=view) which already has Hebrew in it.

Of course, for it to work you will have had to apply Georg's patch for the encodings,

This one is already in SVN I think.

and you have to enable RTL as I explained earlier in this thread. Maybe you'll also need to change the screen fonts to fonts which have Hebrew glyphs --- I believe that Times New Roman, for example, has them. That should be enough to test our current problem --- you can see if the order is correct or not (see the screenshots that I sent --- test.png --- which is correct, or that Guy sent --- snapshot2.jpg --- which is incorrect).

OK, thanks for the explanation, I'll try to test that.

Abdel.
