Very good news. Abdel, it would be nice to refrain from using stuff
not available in 4.0, unless of course there is a real problem. We
have to define a minimal version and stick to it.

I don't see any need to stick to this old version that won't be available anywhere... Qt4.1.2 or 4.1.3 would be the logical choice.

If we are continuing to support qt3, then it doesn't make sense to refrain ourself. So I'd suggest that we use instead latest and greatest Qt4.2 instead to make use of some interesting new features for the math panel, the mini-buffer completion framework and the Font selection dialog.

Sure. My quest to find someone making sure this task is
straight-forward is still ongoing.

What would this investigation work contains? Qt4 readme file lists the supported platforms, isn't that enough?
