Thank you, John, for your response and link, explaining the reason for bikes 
not to stop at stop signs if there is no other traffic approaching the 
intersection. The Weston Road/ Silver Hill  intersection is a good example of 
one where there is a clear view of all approaching vehicles. If none are 
visible, there would seem to be no safety reason for the cyclist to come to a 
full stop.
