I agree he needs more self control and should think before he speaks, but I
make allowances for him because I think that although his actions/words are
sometimes ill conceived, actually his principles are spot on.

For me it's not to what level the team sheet and tactics were divulged to an
opposition, it's the fact someone in my team wanted to potentially give them
ANY CHANCE of an advantage.

It's not that Kelly hasn’t got every right to stick by the terms of his
contract, or even refuse help the club financially, but by doing so he knew
he wouldn’t play and therefore be able to help the club and his mates on the
pitch.

It's not that Nicholls wasn’t happy and wanted to leave, it's the fact he
expected us to let him go to one of our relegation rivals, and at a time
when we needed solidarity AND after Wise had given him the huge honour of
being club captain.

It's not that Butler wanted to leave, it's the fact he lied to Wise's face
and said he wanted to stay.

So, Wise is a hot head and should think before he speaks or does things
sometimes, but I believe he has the right ideas about team spirit and unity,
I think he is a winner and I really don’t think he is a liar. He is famous
for calling a spade a spade, and to your face. That's not what liars tend
to do in my experience.

He may not always be right, but you will always know where you stand with
him, and the sooner we get a squad of players who have bought into that
philosophy and who are all willing to sweat blood for the club and each
other, the better as far as I am concerned.

You're right about many things Mark, but I think you're wrong about Wise.

The admittedly little I know about Wise - basically the stories of violence
and lack of self control - suggests that the bloke is as likely as not to be

a liar, that he's the type to say the very first thing that comes into his
head and that he is the last person that you would ever expect to have a
considered response to anything let alone something he would probably
consider to be a personal challenge. As far as I'm concerned (and I think a
judge & jury had similar opinions), Dennis Wise isn't a credible character.

He should walk the 3rd division, after all Bates himself on his own could
surely win this league by a clear 10 points, but are you ever going to be
proud of a Leeds United led by Dennis Wise? He's had his chance and he's
proved himself at best no better that Blackwell who we all rightly despised.

Wise out!

Damian

PS if a self-respecting team captain felt he had no input into team
selection, he'd be well within his rights to look to jump ship.

He may be a lot of things but Wise doesn't strike me as a liar.

Any rumours suggesting he is, therefore, I take with a huge pinch of salt.

Nicholls was dropped because he contacted Newell/Luton and said he wanted to
go back there. Not because he insisted that Kelly played, which in itself
is frankly unbelievable - since when do captains think they can pick the
side? He may have suggested something to Wise on that front, although at
that time I believe Kelly was still injured, but Wise wouldn't get all arsey
about it, he would simply tell Nicholls to get back to training, or even
explain that we cannot afford to pay an extra £4k per match. That would
have been the start and end of it.

Also the rumour about the rift with Cresswell is a load of bollox. "He
would have been dropped had Elliot been fully fit". Why not play 4-5-1? Why
not play one of the other kids? Why put Elliot in the squad if not fully
fit? Why not sub Cresswell at the first opportunity?

Load of bollox the lot of it.
