Dear Rog
Good to see you back. I'm so glad our views on
Woodgate coincide. I also agree with you on Harvey.
One save he made against Brazil was so outrageous
that it took Coleman and BBC hours for it to register.
It needed hundreds of slow-motion replays before it
was realised that Harvey had tipped the ball over. I think
the ref awarded a goal kick.
I was abroad during the reign of Strachan so cannot pass
a view on Lorimer / Strachan. I was at Barcelona when LU played to keep the
old Fairs Cup. Lorimer had a
shot from inside the centre circle that beat the goalie all
ends up only to hit the crossbar. I understand that the
next day the crossbar was examined and there was a
2 metre crack. When they removed it the wood split
in two.
However, much as there is to reminisce about the Revie
era I am more concerned at the decision of Noble to
cross the Pennines. Is there a story behind the move ?
It was reported down here that he had decided to leave
Northern prior to the approach by Wigan. What was the
story circulating Low Moor ?
regards, Michael (D'sD)
