I think that David is correct, while you MIGHT be able to get a T-1 "split" as 19 voice ( plus 1 signaling ) and 4 bundled data channels ( 256 K) . the truth of the matter is that it would require a "special" dsu / csu that no one would want to do, because of the limited usage. I have seen a "T" to an Adtran "drop & insert" with "X" data and "Y" voice channels as long as it adds up to 1.544 MB - most times an "external" mux and analog CO cards are used for the co lines, which can just as easily be 2 way trunks, but not very likely DID ( unless you just point a CO line to a station, which isn't very efficient)
You can do a lot more with a PRI as long as you don't want to "steal" part of the bandwidth for data, two PRI's will give you 47 channels of voice, with one channel used for ALL the signaling, part of the PRI could then be used as REAL DID trunks, while the rest could be used for outgoing and incoming DID overflow. With a "T" which use "robbed bit signaling" , for some reason doesn't lend itself combo usage Don Ritchie Century Communications Euclid, Ohio David Lesher wrote: >Speaking on Deep Background, the Press Secretary whispered: > > >>Joe: >> >>You need a device to split the data from the voice channels on the T1.
