You need a device to split the data from the voice channels on the  T1.  Many 
companies make these.  Carrier Access Corporation made one  many years ago 
that worked very well.  It was called a Datasplit. Adtran  also makes devices 
like these.  Basically you need the unit to provide two  ports out, one is 
RJ46S 
for the T1, the other port needs to be V.35 for the  router on the network.  
You need a V.35 router to convert from the RJ45  side of the network to the 
Datasplit unit.
 
I like the datasplit, because it was menu driven right on the screen of the  
unit, and very user friendly.  we had it configured in the day to provide 8  
channels data and the rest voice. At night it auto switched to 4 channels voice 
 and 20 channels data so we could mirror the servers.
 
On the T1 card for the PBX, you just configure the unit to have however  many 
channels you want in service.  As long as the timing is correct, the  T1 will 
fill the number of channels you provide as calls come in or out.   Be advised 
the T1 can only carry TD and inbound 800.  If you are looking to  do local, 
then PRI is your choice.
