Re. those nasty websites selling KXTDA under false pretenses, and whether we should tolerate them selling "phones only, not the KSU."
At least one of those is selling the PBX cabinets also. KXTDA-50, -100, and -200.
We shouldn't tolerate them selling KXTDA telephone sets either. That's just giving them a reward as a "compromise" so they'll stop overtly defrauding people by selling PBXs without firmware or warranty.
If anyone here thinks that's OK, I'll offer you a similar deal.
Let's say I want to come and burglarize your house, take your new home theatre system and all of your jewelry, and maybe your home office computers, your firearms if you have any (need 'em for the next job!), and make my getaway by loading it up into your new car and stealing that also.
But I'll tell you what. If you give me the big screen TV and whatever jewelry you & your family haven't worn in the last year or so, and one firearm only, and let me haul them outta' there in your old station wagon, and don't call the cops on me, then I'll be nice and not steal the rest of your jewelry, your computers, the rest of your firearms, and your new car. OK? Have we got a deal? Can't beat those prices, eh?
Right.
Not.
Or to quote Shakespeare, "No, No, a thousand times, No!"
No rewards for crooks, not even rewards disguised as compromises.
Shut 'em down; lock, stock, and terminal block.

The question I have on this is:
Did your customer only ask you for prices on the phones or on the KSU also?
If the customer only asked you to match the phones, then it could be
possible to sell the telesets with out the problem of warranty issue, and firmware
etc. After all, they are just phones, not KSU's, which would require the
registration of software, etc.
Just something to think about. If they got a price on the KSU also, then
there lies the problem we all find annoying at best.
