Many are the clueless people who buy a bunch of parts without knowing what goes with what, and get the wrong stuff.

Then you have to go through another round of false-start while trying to show them that the line card they ordered doesn't match the telephones, or that they got a "package deal" with mostly nondisplay phones that are useless with Caller ID, and so on.

Then there's the oft-heard "They said I could hook it up myself, but I can't get the voicemail system to work..." (i.e. VM integration). I've heard that countless times in the days of KXTD.

The fraudsters who sell at Low Low Web Prices don't know doodley-squat about telephone systems. They see that a line card works with telephones whose part numbers start with a 7-, and think it's OK. They sell package deals designed by idiots trying make a price-point regardless of whether it will actually work or not. Etc. etc. ad-nauseam.

When you get a prospect asking "Can I buy it from www.ScrewMe.com and have you install it?" the answer should be "They are not a certified dealer, those sales are fraudulent, they can't even provide warranty coverage, and we do not facilitate fraud."

When you get a call from someone saying they already bought one from www.ScrewMe.com and it's not working, the answer should be "They are not a certified dealer, those sales are fraudulent, you should demand your money back and if they don't refund it in full, file a criminal complaint with the authorities."

Do Not just "look the other way," that only makes the fraudsters' job easier. And when their clients get stuck up the creek with no paddle, they'll blame it on Panasonic or the system itself, and that becomes a PR nightmare for ALL of us.

The fraudulent sellers are parasites, like the fake tsunami-charity creeps. We should be focusing our efforts on a class action suit to shut 'em down.
