Thanks to everyone for your input.
N133RM has a Garmin GTX320 transponder with an AK350 encoder and passed the
transponder check a few months ago successfully. That is the main reason I
haven't gone with the proposed King KT74 transponder and even if it does add
ADSB capability, it would still require a WAAS GPS source at several more
hundred dollars.
Looking at the Sandia transponder with its internal altitude encoder, it
requires a standalone ADSB solution. Looking at the Status ESG transponder
with ADSB, I think it requires an external encoder. Seems like lots of bits
and pieces in any and all cases with more wires running between them all.
I do like the uAvionix echoUAT ADSB-in feature which means I can get rid of
my Stratux ADSB receiver...
Thanks again.

I am using the uAvionix ADSB Echo with the uAvionx GPS, and an old Samsung
tablet I was already using with Ifly GPS . I am using a KIng kt76a I picked

up on Ebay for around $150.00 that included the mounting tray and a blind
encoder. I then sent the transponder to a company in Texas to tune it up and

yellow tag it. That was $125.00. so I'm around 1800 dollars for the whole
system. It has work well since I installed it Jan 2020. I get good reports
from the Public ADS-B Performance Report and no complaints for the control
tower most of the time. We have some bad coverage areas where I like to fly,

often close to the ground in mountainous places.

$100 off for the an ADSB solution (I've already been looking at longer than
I'll admit without buying) made me take notice today.
https://uavionix.com/products/echo-uat

I think there are a few of these installed in the KR fleet. The weight is
measured at 60 grams for the transceiver and 36 grams for the GPS device.
Unbelievable.
(A neighbour is advocating buying a used King KT-74 transponder ~ $1400-1600
on EBay and I still have to add an approved GPS source.)

So I'm asking is there any reason why NOT to jump on this $1349 discounted
price? Am I missing something?
