They are currently 10% off through uAvionix and Aircraft Spruce would undoubtedly match that price. Buy it with the SkyFYX-EXT GPS antenna and you have the whole thing. I own two of them and have been happy with the performance. In some instances, there may be some software tuning of the transponder sensitivity involved to get it working correctly.
For sure you need a Mode-C transponder to go with it,or to even legally turn it on. Used transponders can be had for a lot less than $1400. If you're going to spend that much, I would suggest buying a new Sandia STX-165 for $1800 as it has an integral solid state encoder and a much smaller footprint. I had one in my KR and thought it was a first class unit. However, you can buy a yellow tagged Garmin GTX327 on Ebay for $750, so I wouldn't waste my money on the King unit. However, if you don't have a transponder, it isn't going to cost you anything more to install a 1090ES capable transponder and GPS source than it is to buy a Mode C transponder and a UAT ADS-B unit. You might as well go with a fully integrated unit rather than a UAT add on. -Jeff Scott Arkansas Ozarks > Sent: Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 5:04 PM > From: "John Bouyea" <j...@bouyea.net> > To: "'KRnet'" <krnet@list.krnet.org> > Subject: KR>uAvionix ADSB echoUAT on sale? > > $100 off for the an ADSB solution (I've already been looking at longer than > I'll admit without buying) made me take notice today. > https://uavionix.com/products/echo-uat > > I think there are a few of these installed in the KR fleet.
