At the aerospace engineering/fabrication business where I spent the last 31 years working, one of our junior engineers designed a piece of military hardware with thousands of rivnuts retaining the outer shell to the aluminum frame. Us old-timers had known for decades that Keenserts were the only way to do the job properly, but on this small project, it slipped right by. Despite being installed with the proper tools, these things soon started slipping in their aluminum frame and many had to be drilled out, along with the steel bolts that were screwed into them. In the end they were are all replaced with Keenserts, which is how us old-timer spacecraft guys had always done it before. This reminded us of the old joke that "we're a 70 year old company, with only 5 years of experience".....
