Not sure exactly what you mean by "It should align with the case seam BELOW the crank for #1 Cyl."   My flange has a "dimple" mark that "almost" lines up with the case split on top of the engine but it does no line up exactly with either 24 or 28 degrees, the two possible settings for mag timing on the 0-200.  It appears to be closer to the 25.4 degree setting with my measurement.  My right mag was set by a mechanic using the "tin can" with a dial and , while it may have drifted a bit in 70 hours, it was reading 22.6 with my measurement.  I have the newer style cylinders and set the timing to 27.5 BTDC,  I lucked out and the points break at exactly the same time on both mags.  When I did a short run it seemed I was getting an extra 100 rpm static with the more advanced setting.  I'll see how it flies in the morning.

A Saturday morning breakfast at Mt.Vernon might be doable.
