I lost track of how many times I've been to Oshkosh/ S&F as an attendee, a
participant and a commercial exhibitor. While it is a commonly attended venue,
it's also a zoo. There are so many foci as to distract even a monk.
And I think that's the very best thing of the -two- and only two KR Gatherings
I've attended, 2004 at KMVN & as a helper organizer in 2015 at KMMV. The
dedicated attention to our aircraft, the people we meet and the skills we've
gained in common as we all build and fly essentially the same airplane. I'll
agree with Robert, I got a lot more out of being an organizer that I did as
attendee.
While Jeannette ran RR, she put up her booth and spoke to boatloads of people.
That was preaching to the masses for sure. She sold plans and many of us have
joined into the choir that now build and fly our little airplanes. If we as a
group feel the need to grow our crowd, maybe we need an organized User Group
tent at the larger events. Set up even just a table out among the KRs that do
choose to fly into OSH or S&F. You know, hand out some business cards with the
KRNet.Org link on it, press a bit the flesh and show off the planes on site.
For certain there would be interest. And some of those people might convert
into qualified KR prospects, builders, owners and/ or pilots.
People with multiple trips into both venues like Langford or Jones or Wiltrout
or Waymack may have their opinions to offer and hopefully they will. I'm
definitely with Robert on this one; the KR Gathering is just the right event
for me.
