Steve, I have not done anything about the extensions as my KR was involved
in an incident on the taxiway. A truck was left parked on the taxiway in a
curve to the right late in the afternoon about 6 weeks ago. The truck was
grey with dark trees in the background. The truck did not have flashing
lights or any hazard lights, flags, etc. and remained in a blind spot even
with s-turning. As Frank was s-turn taxiing to 18 for a late afternoon
flight the right wing impacted the back of the truck and caused the plane to
spin around and impact the truck at the front fender. My insurance company
had me send the engine to Great Plains for tear-down, inspection, and
rebuild. I have not gotten it back yet. Fiberglass damage was done to the
wing tip and strobe/position lights. It will probably be spring before I
will be flying again, probably. I am having Steve at Great Plains install a
Force One prop hub on the engine. The Force One hub is an inch longer than
the shrink fit hub I originally had so I will have to do a new weight and
balance before determining if I will need to extend the engine mount. Will
let you know.
Good news, the insurance company for the owner of the truck just called and
said the check is in the mail.
