BRS (Ballistic Recovery Systems) designed a system for the KR. It is very simple: The canister mounts behind the seat and under the front edge of the turtle deck. A very thin layer of fiberglass cloth covers the hole in top of the turtle deck. This will rupture when the rocket is fired and allow the chute to exit the plane. The chute is connected to nylon flat webbing that goes from the turtle deck down the fuselage sides and to each outer front main center spar. There is also a nylon strap which goes down the top of the turtle deck to the rear of the plane. these straps are under one very thin layer of fiberglass cloth such as deck cloth. It is best to install the straps when doing your lay up so you can make a channel for them to lay in. When the chute deploys, it will rip the straps out of the skin and you will dangle under the chute on a three point harness. If and I say if, the plane and you survive the crash landing some fiberglass skin repair will be in order. Personally, unless the plane actually breaks up in flight, I would never consider using one. Just think what would happen if you were cruising along at 150mph and you or your passenger accidentally hit the fire button.
