This might be a good time to remind some folks that there is an archive where typing in something like "ballistic" will get you 90 hits that are filled with as much information as KRnetters know about the subject, and it'll do it in five seconds. As with many questions that continually pop up on this list, most of the answers are there, as well as debate about the answers.
