I don't use it but I've heard TurboCAD is about as easy to learn as they
get, and it's cheap , at something like $70 last time I checked, with maybe
even a free demo that's a little neutered or time limited. I've played with
it a little as a file translater (raster to vector) and it works. I
wouldn't call Powerpoint "CAD software" by any stretch of the imagination,
however.

Personally, I use Solid Edge at work, but it's about $5k a copy. Solid
Works is similar and both work fine. I personally despise PRO-E, but that's
a long story. In addtion to my other responsibilities, I run the CAD file
server (purely out of self defense) and function as the CAD system
administrator. At one time we had about 135 seats of CAD, but we're down to
about 65 now. We have a little of everything, but I don't claim to know
anything about any of them except Solid Edge and MicroStation.

Having said all of this, I've never found a compelling reason to solid model
the KR2 just to build one, unless you plan to make a whole bunch of changes.
I didn't...
