Kenny, I simply can't believe that the FAA wants "nothing to do with an experimental aircraft". After all, certifying aircraft has been, and still is, a part of their job. Maybe it depends on where you are and who you talk that forms that sort of impression. Although a DAR (friend of mine) did my inspection, he was new to the game, so an FAA rep. came along to help with the process. My certification inspection was done 2 month ago. I could have had the FAA rep do it by himself, but the DAR needed the experience. Another friend of mine had his homebuilt inspected by an FAA rep. last Fall.
